The Directorate of Studies and Policy Analysis was founded in 2005 as part of the Ministry of Planning and Development. Its mission comprises:  

1. Conducting short, medium and long term economic studies and analysis;
2. Undertaking and fostering dissemination of analysis of the economic conjuncture on a regular basis;
3. Coordinating the development of sectoral policies aimed at promoting growth and economic and social development;
4. Organizing the design and implementation of the National Population Policy;
5. Managing the formulation of the salary and price policies;
6. Contributing to the definition of strategies for relationships with cooperation partners;
7. Participating in the setting up of sectoral strategic planning;
8. Participating in the design of general directives for the preparation of annual and multi-annual planning;
9. Taking part in the elaboration of macro-economic indicators;
10. Participating in the formulation and assessment of sectoral and multi-sectoral policies.
